Sales at vape shop tripled leading up to ban, bare shelves and stockpile of unsellable inventory remain | Columbia Basin

MOSES LAKE – A local vape store owner says sales have taken a nose dive since it stopped selling flavored vaping liquid on Thursday. The cease of flavored vape juice sales comes after Washington state’s emergency ban on such products took effect on Thursday.

Leading up to midnight on Thursday when the ban was supposed to be enforced, Cloud 509 Vape Shop Owner Margo Ross says sales tripled as people stockpiled on the now forbidden item.

After selling 318 bottles of vaping liquid on Wednesday, Ross says she has 500 bottles of inventory left over which must be destroyed or held onto until the 120-day ban ends. Vape stores now only carry tobacco-flavored vaping liquid and flavorless vaping fluid along with vaping hardware and accessories.

The permanent fate of the vaping industry will likely be decided by lawmakers during the 2020 legislative session.
